The Childnet Youth Advisory Board is made up of young people aged 13-16 from across the UK. This group has the exciting opportunity to help shape and directly influence Childnet’s resources, messaging, and future campaigns.
The young people who are part of the Advisory Board are passionate about making the internet a safer and more positive environment for everyone, they champion and celebrate the opportunities being online has to offer, whilst also creating change that can make a real difference to young people’s lives online.
The Youth Advisory Board is part of Childnet’s work in the UK Safer Internet Centre, and is funded by Nominet and Twitch.
The Youth Advisory Board was kickstarted with a 3-day residential trip in London, where the team discussed the issues that young people face online and to future plan about what they wanted to achieve.
Subsequently, the board meet online each month, where the youth board members are given regular opportunities to talk about young people’s online experiences, feedback on Childnet projects, and speak up about the online issues impacting them the most.
The Childnet Youth Advisory board plays a key role in ensuring we fulfil our mission of representing the views and interest of all young people across the UK.
The board will meet once a month, and the Childnet Team will utilise this time to ensure our messaging, policy, and resources are reflective of the issues currently affecting young people, and that these are delivered in a way that is accessible for all young people across the UK.
