My name is Emma and I am 13 years old from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
In my spare time I play rugby and I recently started volunteering with a local Community Association.
I decided to join the Youth Advisory Board as I heard about it in school and it really appealed to me as something I would enjoy.
One of my particular interests in online safety is ‘mental health’ as it is a topic that occurs and is talked about in everyday life. It can be a sensitive topic but it is important and needs more attention, particularly with younger people. Another interest is ‘scamming’ as it happens in many forms such as texting, calling, etc. It is too easy for scammers to find out any information about us and commit fraud.
So far on the YAB I have enjoyed the residential in London where I met new people and made new friends from around the country. In taking part on the YAB, I would like to achieve the safety of apps and children’s use of those apps. I would like parents to know that their children are safe and secure online and I would like to decrease online bullying so that young people are not or do not feel at risk.
