RAF Donate to Childnet 2006

22 February 2006

RAF Cosford’s Cyber Café has very generously donated £3,000 to Childnet International.

Childnet were recently delighted to be invited to the Defence College Aeronautical Engineering (DCAE) Cosford to receive a generous donation from the proceeds of their onsite Cyber Café. The Cyber Café, set up over 5 years ago, is a voluntarily run, non-profit division of DCAE Cosford’s Props Club.

The Chairman of the Cyber Café’s committee, Sergeant Andy Darlington, searched the internet using the terms ‘internet safety’ and ‘young people’ seeking an appropriate charity to donate the excess funds to. He also explains the other criteria for this donation was that the amount would have a real impact on the charity and its ability to provide products and services to people. Nicola Sanders, from Childnet who co-ordinated the visit to RAF Cosford says

“It is brilliant that Childnet is being recognised through the medium of the internet for its work in providing young people and parents with internet safety advice and resources. It is also an extremely valuable contribution to Childnet at this time as it faces an uncertain financial future. This money will be well used to help share our messages of internet safety with young people”.
