Our busy Education team visit up to eight schools a week, delivering sessions for young people aged 3 – 18 years old. They also run webinars for educators, advice sessions for parents and carers, and staff training.
The team play a key role in creating resources for Safer Internet Day, as well as groundbreaking projects like Thrive Online, Moving On Up, and STAR SEND.
We sat down with our new Education Officers to find out why they joined Childnet and what drew them to the online safety space.

How have you found working at Childnet so far?
Georgia: I have absolutely loved my first week at Childnet. The whole team are so friendly and welcoming, even though I have joined them during the hottest week of the year! The team are very passionate about what they do and they have told me all about their jobs and how they make Childnet the amazing charity it is. I am very lucky to join such a lovely team of people.
Rosie: It has been fantastic! The team are so welcoming and passionate about making the internet a great place for children and young people. I have been amazed by the impact the team have had and their dedication to keep children and young people at the heart of what we do.
What did you do before coming to Childnet? How will this help you in your new role?
Georgia: I studied Primary Education at The University of Winchester for 3 years. My degree allowed me to visit lots of different school settings, including Primary, Secondary and schools for children with Special Educational Needs.
After graduating from university, I went straight into teaching for 5 years. I taught in Year 4 at the beginning of my career and during the pandemic, which meant I needed to explore the world of online learning! This was a challenge, but I learnt lots of ways to make remote learning fun and engaging for young people. After the pandemic, I spent the rest of my career in Early Years Foundation Stage. I gained lots of knowledge about how children learn through play and I loved being creative with my ideas. I have always loved singing and dancing with children, so I am sure you will see some of this in my presentations!
My experience working with children in both Key Stage 2 and Early Years has helped me gain an insight into how young people use the internet and how I can support them. I am confident with presenting in front of young people and I aim to make my presentations engaging and fun!
Rosie: Before coming to Childnet, I taught in primary schools for five years. I was able to teach over a range of ages which means I am confident to present creative and engaging sessions for children and young people.
My role in schools also included leading the subject of computing. This piqued my interest in online safety and how children and young people interact with the internet. Listening to children and young people was a key part of this role as it helped me understand how to adapt the teaching of computing in the school.
I am looking forward to utilising the skills I have gained in my career in my new role at Childnet!
