Childnet welcomes and supports the launch of PhoneBrain.co.uk

4 December 2006

Childnet welcomes and supports the launch of PhoneBrain.co.uk, a new site designed to inform children and young people about premium rate services, which launches today 4th December. This site is particularly designed to informs children and make sure they know how to stay in control if they use these services and not run up big bills. The site was produced by ICSTIS the premium rate regulator, and Childnet helped to provide advice and help young people themselves have a say in the design and content of the site.

Stephen Carrick Davies, Childnet’s CEO, helped with the launch of this site, and said:

“At Childnet we get e-mails and phone calls from young people and parents concerned about high mobile phone bills and getting caught up in premium rate scams. We therefore very much welcome the launch of Phonebrain and have worked closely with ICSTIS in consulting children and young people on the design, content and messages for this website. It is an excellent example of a regulator being pro-active and providing good quality advice to young consumers in a way that is relevant and impactful. We are sure that the website will help to better inform both young people and parents as to how to get the most out of their mobile phone and stay safe.”
