Calling all young people aged 7-18! Win big at the Childnet Film Competition

13 April 2023

Are you a creative young person looking to showcase your talents and make a name for yourself in the film industry? Or perhaps you are interested in creating films but looking for the right chance to try it out?

Or do you work with young people at college or secondary education who would jump at the opportunity to develop their professional portfolio?

If so, you should consider the Childnet Film Competition!

Now in its 14th year, our Film Competition sees young people in schools across the UK create 2 minute long films at school, and compete for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

Winners and their schools will be featured on our website and be recognised by industry leaders for their contribution to film and online safety.

Film competitions are a great way to gain exposure for your work and connect with other filmmakers in your age group.

Finalists will win a trip to the BFI in London for the Live Results Finale – a platform for you to showcase your creativity and filmmaking skills to a wider audience, and kickstarting your venture into the industry.

Childnet Film Competition 2022 – Secondary Winners

Your film will be featured heavily on our social media and website, and even be classified by the BBFC – so that, legally, your film can be played in the cinema! Pretty cool, right?

How can I enter the Childnet Film Competition?

All you need to do is to approach the teacher who you think will be most excited about this project, and tell them to head to:

This webpage contains the simple and easy steps your teacher will need to take to support you in submitting an application.

Please note we cannot accept applications unless they created by a group of students and are submitted by a teacher.

Why enter the Childnet Film Competition?

  1. Push yourself creatively: The Film Competition is a unique and exciting challenge which help develop your skills in film, media and drama

  3. Make positive change: Our competition encourages you to get creative through the lens of online safety. Your film could end up changing how people behave towards one another online for the better!
  4. Connect with the industry: Meet other filmmakers and make waves within the film and online safety industry.
  5. Win: If you end up winning, your school will win a fantastic filmmaking prize to help future generations follow in your steps and pick up the camera.
