Now in its 14th year, the Childnet Film Competition invites young people across the UK to create a short film or storyboard focusing on a specific online safety theme each year.
We saw so many fun and engaging films, videos and social media templates sent to us very recently for Safer Internet Day, and now our Film Competition provides a perfect opportunity for your learners to revisit online safety in a creative capacity, and be in with a chance of winning an amazing filmmaking prize for your school or education setting!
It would make a fantastic online safety provision for your next term, and not to mention a unique opportunity for your learners to enhance their media skills!
What is the theme for the Childnet Film Competition 2023?
The theme for this year’s film competition is:
Time to talk! How can people support each other online?
Reflecting this year’s Safer Internet Day theme in sharing online experiences, participants have full creative license about how they demonstrate supporting others online.
Looking for inspiration? We have a planning sheet to help your learners get started with the theme, including some handy pointers:
- What makes going online fun?
- Why is it important to be kind and respectful online?
- What could we do to support each other online?
Who can enter?
The winning films in the primary and secondary categories will win prizes for their school or youth group.
The Childnet Film Competition is open to every young person in the UK aged 7–18, and split into several categories, with runners-up and winners in each:
What prizes are up for grabs?
