Childnet trains a team of leading e-safety educators to help expand its reach in schools
Last week, Childnet delivered a training program to support a group of e-safety experts in delivering educational sessions to children, young people and parents across the UK. The addition of 9 experts to the education team means that our key e-safety messages will be rolled out to an increased number of primary and secondary schools right across the UK, so that more young people will be empowered to feel confident in their use of the internet and know what to do to protect themselves and peers from risks online.
On the 24th and 25th of July 2014, the Childnet team and 9 professional internet safety educators – with experience in speaking to children and young people about the issues that affect them – met together in Microsoft’s offices to share best practices and experiences, polish their presentation skills and get to grips with the key messages that Childnet deliver to ages 3 to 18.
In the future, these educators will continue to meet up from across the UK to keep up to date with one another’s experiences, receive training updates and build their relationships within their new-found network of passionate and high quality e-safety educators.
The group are now eager to start travelling to schools across the UK and learn even more about the current issues that children and young people are facing, meanwhile supporting them to tackle these problems and make safe decisions on the internet.
