How the Film Competition Storyboard winner ‘engaged and entertained’

11 August 2022

The winners of the Childnet Film Competition 2022 were announced during a live online event in July.

Amongst them was the victor in the popular and highly prestigious Storyboard category.

This challenged young people across the UK to create a storyboard on the theme of: All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online. What can we all do to play our part?

Entitled ‘Shape Dash’, the first placed entry was created by Raviv of Frome Vale Academy – and was a hit with the judges.

As the author of the Digiduck collection of books for children aged 3-7, Childnet’s Lindsay Buck was particularly impressed with Raviv’s winning effort.

“Shape Dash was a thoroughly deserving winner of the Storyboard Category.

“The illustrations and accompanying descriptions were clear, entertaining, and easy for the reader to follow.

“The pictures had a wonderful balance of simplicity, with enough detail to be engaging and appealing, which shows real talent.

“The positive advice at the end, where triangle confides in his mum, was a really important feature of this storyboard too and reflects the messaging that we, at Childnet, reinforce with children and young people.

“It was lovely to see the characters playing the appropriate version of the game at the end, to demonstrate how gaming can be something that families can engage in to spend quality time together and facilitate conversations about life online.”

Lindsay Buck, Childnet Senior Education Projects Officer
