One week to go – prepare for Safer Internet Day 2022

1 February 2022

With just one week to go until Safer Internet Day 2022, we are truly inspired by the activities and celebrations that are planned for the 8th February 2022. From football clubs to banks, schools to businesses, across the country people are pledging support. We’re excited to find out more about how you will #PlayYourPart this Safer Internet Day.

As preparations enter their final week, we also have exciting new resources to share with you and a reminder of how else you can get involved.

New educational resources launched today!

Today the UK Safer Internet Centre have launched new resources to help educators, schools, youth clubs and others engage young people with messages about respect and relationships.

Firstly, we have created bespoke activities for use with young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to accompany our other downloadable resources.

We want to make Safer Internet Day 2022 the most inclusive yet, so are excited to share our sensory story of ‘Digiduck and the Magic Castle’ for younger children, and scenario-based activities for 7-11s and over 11s, written specially for use in SEND contexts.

Next, we have virtual assemblies for all ages. These pre-recorded videos were first introduced for Safer Internet Day 2021 in response to remote learning requirements. We had a fantastic response from schools and great feedback on the format, so have created brand new video assemblies for Safer Internet Day 2022.

For 3-7s we have a reading of ‘Digiduck and the Magic Castle’ by author, Lindsay Buck. Whilst for 7-11s and 11-18s, members of the Childnet Education Team deliver 15-20 minute presentations on this year’s theme ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’.

Even better, all three are fully captioned and available with British Sign Language translation.

And finally, our interactive Safer Internet Day quizzes are now live. This year we have written three quizzes:

These are now live and interactive on the UK Safer Internet Centre website, meaning young people, families can test their online safety knowledge and can see how they would react to various online situations.
