Childnet’s Jenny’s Story DVD – updated version now available

1 February 2007

Childnet announced today that its Jenny’s Story DVD resource which was originally launched in January 2005 has been updated and is now available from the Childnet office.

Over the last 2 years the film has been used in very many schools and organisations both in the UK and internationally, and has proved highly effective at helping young people reflect on the dangers of chatting to strangers on the Internet.

In updating the film and the accompanying Teacher’s Guide Childnet has been able to incorporate feedback from young people and teachers as well as good practice guidance on using case studies, and signposting to the new Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) where suspected grooming incidents can now be reported to the police.

Stephen Carrick-Davies, CEO of Childnet says,

“I’m delighted that we have been able to update Jenny’s Story and promote the new reporting services which were not available at the time of the original launch. We have had reports from schools where the film has been shown saying that it was instrumental in protecting pupils from getting into difficulties online. We hope that the new introduction to the film and the updated Teacher’s Guide will help even more schools better support and equip their pupils for using new technologies safely and responsibly.”

Childnet is actively encouraging any organisation using the earlier version of Jenny’s Story to return it to Childnet so that a free replacement copy can be sent.

E-mail [email protected] if you would like to take up this offer. New enquiries can order a copy from www.childnet-int.org/order
