Childnet promotes e-Safety resources for teachers at BETT

9 January 2008

Childnet attended BETT last week (9 – 12 January 2008), the world’s leading educational information and communications technology (ICT) event, to showcase the new Know IT All resources for teachers and trainee teachers.

The exhibition was held over four days at Olympia in London, with over 30,000 delegates visiting in excess of 700 stands comprising various ICT educational suppliers.

Following the release of the new Know IT All for Teachers and Trainee Teachers resources in December 2007, Childnet was pleased to present these resources, and to talk about the support that they are designed to give teachers, to a large audience of teaching and educational professionals.

Childnet’s CEO Stephen Carrick Davies said,

“I am delighted that e-Safety issues are continuing to climb the agenda and were increasingly profiled on a wide number of stands at BETT. This remains an important issue, and we are committed to supporting the whole school community and all those impacted by e-safety issues through our resources.

“We were proud to showcase our new KIA resources for teachers and trainee teachers speaking for the TDA and alongside Ruth Hammond from Becta on both the Microsoft and Becta Stand.”

Sections taken from KIA for Teachers were included on the promotional Microsoft DVD which was made available to all attendees. The full KIA for Teachers resource is available free for secondary school in England to order (one copy per school) through the DCSF Publications Scheme and Know IT All for Trainees has been distributed (in DVD format) to every initial teacher training provider in England. The supporting websites for both resources are available on the Childnet website www.childnet.com/kia.
