Plan Childnet Film Competition into your school’s 2022 schedule!

2 December 2021

The Childnet Film Competition is back for 2022 and your school or youth group is invited to join the celebration of creativity, filmmaking and online safety knowledge.

Childnet would like to encourage anyone who works with young people across the UK to include this scheme of work in their 2022 spring and summer teaching plans.

Each year, the Childnet Film Competition challenges young people aged 7-18 to create a short film of no longer than two minutes or a storyboard reflecting a positive message on a given theme.

Last year’s theme was ‘Separating fact from fiction. Finding trustworthy information online.’ The 2022 theme will be announced on January 13.

Victoria College Preparatory School and Greenacres Academy were recognised in the Primary category last time, while Bolton School Girls Division, Tuxford Academy and Ranelagh School were finalists in the secondary category. Shortlisted in the Storyboard section were Kingscourt School, Two Mile Ash School and Frome Vale Academy.

Once again, the Film Competition judging panel will include experts from the Motion Picture Association, British Board of Film Classification, Disney, BAFTA, British Film Institute and BBC.

Competition packs for each category will be available from February 23. Packs include entry forms, frequently asked questions, and top tips for filmmaking. Entries will close on June 13.

Prizes consist of filmmaking equipment, including a DSLR camera, for your school or youth group.

Educators, make sure you save the date and ensure your school or youth group is part of the Childnet Film Competition 2022 fun!
