Are you planning on teaching internet safety this term?

It’s the final term of this academic year and it’s a good time to reflect on your school’s e-safety provision and think about how you can teach internet safety across the curriculum.

This academic year saw Ofsted assessing e-safety provision for the first time – but are schools ready for their next assessment? Find out more about getting e-safety ready for Ofsted, developing better policies and implementing a progressive e-safety curriculum in our workplace guide.

Speaking to pupils about internet safety

Even if you have already spoken to pupils about internet safety, it can help to reinforce messages throughout the year.

You could organise for one of our experts from our Education Team to come in and talk to your pupils about how to be safe online. We run a host of presentations for all age groups as well as staff and parents, so please get in touch if you are interested.

Explore our new resource matrix to find lesson plans, drama activities, storybooks and films to use in your classroom.

New resources for staff and parents

Good e-safety provision isn’t just about educating your pupils, it is important to ensure the adults supporting children are clued up as well.

During the Easter holidays, we’ve been pretty busy at Childnet. Our social networking leaflet for parents, carers and teachers has had a re-vamp to fit nicely with our brand new website. You can order copies from our shop for your school or organisation.

Take a look at our new online guide about illegal downloading, specifically aimed at parents and teachers. Research shows us that there is much confusion over pirate sites for film, music and TV. Have a look at the guide to clear up any queries you may have.
