Book your school’s online safety visit with the Childnet Education Team

16 June 2021

Childnet’s Education Officers are delivering in-person and virtual visits to schools from September, covering the key online safety messages for all ages.

Childnet education visits provide interactive, discussion-based sessions for young people, as well as parents, carers, and educators.

Our team are fully booked for the remainder of this academic year. However, slots are now open for September and October 2021.

Will Gardner, Childnet CEO, said: “Visits from the Childnet Education Team are an excellent way for schools to enhance their pupils’ online safety knowledge, and help young people to stay safe online.

“Our Education Officers are looking forward to visiting plenty of schools across the UK in September and October, as well as delivering virtual sessions where required.”

Childnet education sessions for young people are tailored for primary and secondary pupils, and students in further education:

  • 3-7 year olds in Nursery, EYFS and KS1
This shorter session for younger children lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. Our Education Officers tell the story of Salma the Seal and ensure key messages are embedded through a repeated short song and accompanying actions. This content is designed to be used alongside our popular Smartie the Penguin resources.

  • 7-11 year olds in KS2
These scenario and discussion-based assembly style workshops are tailored for either the 7-9 or 9-11 year old age group. Both sessions include key messages around online friendships, gaming, videos, personal information, trust, bullying and grooming, and can be tailored to incorporate key issues for your setting.

  • 11-16 year olds in KS3 and KS4
Our secondary sessions are tailored for each year group and use realistic examples, video content and discussion to deliver key messages on relevant, topical and engaging issues. Our Education Officers are confident in speaking on a range of issues including fake news and misinformation, online relationships, sexting and more, meaning these sessions can easily be adapted to incorporate key issues for your setting.

  • 16-18 year olds in Further Education
Designed specifically with older students in mind, these sessions look at the power of the internet and tackle some of the big issues facing us all online. From online sexual harassment to data and privacy, these ‘meatier’ topics are designed to get young people thinking, whilst delivering practical advice without being patronising.

Our Education Officers’ diaries are filling up fast, so reserve your school’s visit by completing our online enquiry form. A member of our team will be in touch!
