The Childnet website now includes three new Hot Topics on the subject of Critical Thinking, these Hot Topics contain advice for Young People, Teachers and Professionals, and Parents and Carers.

Critical Thinking is an important skill that all online users need in order to navigate the internet safely, and to find accurate and reliable information.

The new Hot Topics are designed to offer advice on how best to support young people as they think critically about the information that is in front of them, weighing up what they know to be true, asking questions, forming judgements and checking with others if they are unclear.

Hot Topic for Young People

This Hot Topic is aimed at young people aged 11-18 and includes content on:

  • When critical thinking is useful (e.g. for spotting Fake News)
  • Top tips on how to think critically

Hot Topic for Parents and Carers

This Hot Topic is aimed at parents and carers who want to support their children in developing their critical thinking skills and includes content on:

  • Advice on how to practise critical thinking with your child
  • Top tips on critical thinking to share with your child

Hot Topic for Teachers and Professionals

This Hot Topic is aimed at teachers and professionals who want to learn more about how to support their pupils in developing their critical thinking skills. It includes content on:
