Childnet Youth Ambassadors launching in July 2017

2 May 2017

We are delighted to announce that applications are now open to become a Childnet Youth Ambassador.

Launching in July 2017, Childnet’s new Youth Advisory Board will be working on Project deSHAME. This new project aims to work towards online equality and to find ways to remove and prevent the online pressures and harassment young people can face online.

We are looking for a team of 10 young people aged between 13 and 17, who :

  • are passionate about getting their voice heard
  • have ideas about how we can improve the way young people experience the internet
  • believe change can happen.

The Youth Advisory Board will have the opportunity to share their experiences and views on issues such as cyberbullying, peer pressure, healthy relationships and online sexual harassment. For example, name calling based on gender, or sexual orientations, or seeing private photos being shared around online.

They will be able to advise the Childnet team on how these issues can happen using the internet, and how we can encourage young people to report unacceptable behaviour online.

The Youth Advisory Board will be directly involved in planning, developing and launching a national campaign that will raise awareness of these issues. They will take the lead in finding solutions, and have the chance to advise parents, teachers and the police on how we can make the internet a more inclusive and equal place.

If you, or someone you know, is up for the challenge, more information about the role and the application form can be at childnet.com/new-for-schools/youth-ambassador

Please note that this role is only available for those living in the UK.

Applications close on 16th June 2017.
