Ready for 2016/2017: Online Safety in the Computing Curriculum

6 September 2016

We have updated our resource, Online Safety in the Computing Curriculum, giving these interactive guides a fresh face for the 2016/2017 academic year.

The Computing Curriculum:

The Computing Curriculum was introduced in England to give pupils the knowledge and skills they need to use information and communication technology in a creative and purposeful way, both inside and outside of school.

Technology plays a huge part in everyday life and it’s important that young people have up to date information which allows them to navigate the online world safely, responsibly and positively.

Our guides:

We have four interactive guides to online safety in the computing curriculum; one for each key stage, that outline and explain the learning aims for online safety and signpost to resources tailored to that age group.

In preparation for this academic year we have added new resources to our guides and have also updated the existing resources, ensuring that they all contain up to date and relevant information.

All of these guides provide a starting point for providing competent online safety teaching. It is not required that schools use all of the resources we have listed and some resources can be used to deliver more than one online safety message.

Effective online safety education takes place across the curriculum so educators and schools are encouraged to consider how these resources can be used to teach online safety in other subjects as well as Computing.

All the resources listed on the presentations are free to use but some may require a user to sign up for a free account.
