26 July 2017

Last week the 2017 techUK annual dinner saw over 500 people from the UK tech industry, government and civil service come together for the evening.

The evening which showcased the UK’s digital technology sector included speeches from Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, and broadcaster and journalist Emily Maitlis.

techUK held a raffle on the night, with prizes contributed from their partners, which raised an amazing £2,451to support the work that Childnet does.

Julian David, CEO of Tech UK spoke about why they chose to support the work that Childnet does:

‘We are proud to support the important work of Childnet International and, as in previous years, were thrilled to have the charity represented at our Annual Dinner. Childnet work tirelessly to make the internet a great and safe place for children and we support it in its mission to give the younger generation the tools they need to navigate the online world safely.’

Will Gardner, CEO of Childnet said:

“We are very proud to have had the fantastic support of techUK. Their support is important in enabling us to grow our impact year on year, from coordinating Safer Internet Day which reached 42% of UK children this year, to creating innovative resources for schools and families. We’d like to thank techUK and its members for supporting our approach to empowering children across the country to use the internet for good”
