This short slide deck has been created after consultation with the Childnet Youth Advisory Board.
Designed to provide teachers and other professionals an opportunity to reflect on recent developments in generative AI (genAI) and the impact this may have on the children they work with, it includes insights on:
- what genAI is and how young people are using it,
- the positives and negatives of genAI as identified by young people,
- strategies young people are already using to manage their experiences online,
- potential online harms relating to genAI linked to the 4Cs (as referenced in KCSIE)
- practical advice and conversation starters
Please note, these slides are not intended to provide comprehensive training on genAI and its use in education settings. This resource is to support schools and youth settings to understand young people’s experiences and to provide staff with an opportunity to openly discuss among themselves the benefits and challenges that genAI may present.
