New Online Safety Awareness Pack for Schools

8 September 2017

As term time starts and the summer holidays are now officially over, we have created a brand new School Pack for Online Safety Awareness with new and updated resources to help you teach about online safety as well as protect your own online reputation.

This blog looks more closely at what is included within the pack:

The online safety calendar

Stuck for ideas whilst planning your school’s online safety activities? Our updated online safety calendar could help you out!

The calendar includes key dates such as Safer Internet Day and Anti-Bullying Week as well as fun lesson themes and games, giving you lots of inspiration for how to ensure that online safety plays a pivotal part in your year plan and is embedded throughout the curriculum.

Social media – a guide for teachers and support staff

This Social Media Guidance for Teachers and Support Staff is designed to support your personal and professional use of social media sites in order to keep you, your pupils, and your job safe.

The guide offers advice on utilising social media safely and responsibly, giving real life examples that will help you to navigate the online world and respond to potential risks.

Teachers and technology: a checklist

This checklist is for using technology safely with young people. It outlines key points to consider when using technology in the classroom, at school and at home.

The checklist includes steps such as Googling yourself as well as important information about who to contact if something you see online concerns you.

Find out more by visiting the School Pack for Online Safety Awareness page.

We also offer a host of other free resources which can be downloaded from the Childnet Website

Childnet also run an exciting peer to peer education programme called the Childnet Digital Leaders Programme. To find out more about how your school can become a Digital Leader school then visit www.childnet.com/our-projects/childnet-digital-leaders-programme.
