Introducing our new Education Projects Assistant!

10 March 2017

We asked Ricquel Robinson, our new Education Projects Assistant a few questions about herself and her work at Childnet.

How have you found working at Childnet so far?

I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and everyone has been really helpful getting me up to speed with everything. The team are all very passionate and dedicated about their work and I’m learning a lot about the practical ways professionals, parents and teachers can keep children safe online.

What does your job as Education Projects Assistant entail?

My role includes assisting the Education Team with their various projects and providing administrative support for both the Primary and Secondary Digital Leaders Programme. I’m mainly responsible for maintaining communication with the schools subscribed to the programme, making sure that the Digital Leaders are well engaged with the online safety training and sending out their certificates and badges.

What did you do before coming to Childnet? How will this help you in your new role?

Before Childnet I spent 6 months travelling around Brazil, Central America, Thailand and Tanzania! Before going travelling I worked for the NSPCC Helpline as a practitioner giving advice to adults with concerns for children’s welfare. My helpline role has given me a lot of experience dealing with parents and children who have had concerns about online safety and the potential risks to children online, so I’m keen to share this knowledge with my new team.

What part of working at Childnet are you most looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to helping develop the Digital Leaders Platform and making it even more fun and interactive for schools to use. I’m also really looking forward to seeing the videos young people have created at the finalist’s event for the Childnet Film Competition in July!
