Yesterday the Department for Education published the statutory guidance ‘Keeping children safe in education‘.
It provides guidance on safeguarding policies and practices, types of abuse and neglect, and where to go for further information and support if there are concerns about a child.
Specific risks that relate to the internet are highlighted in the document, including online sexual exploitation, cyberbullying and sexting.
The summary document provides an overview of the key topics covered, and is a helpful starting pointing for all those working with children.
Education Secretary Michael Gove said: “These changes will ensure school and college staff are clear about their statutory responsibilities and able to exercise their professional judgement with confidence in keeping children safe.”
