Digiduck’s Big Decision – the app

23 September 2014

Our popular e-safety story, Digiduck’s Big Decision, is now available as a free app for tablets.

Working with Internet Matters we have transformed the story into a fun, interactive tablet app that parents can enjoy with their children. Like the book, the app follows Digiduck and his pals in a story of friendship and responsibility online.

As Childnet CEO, Will Gardner, states:

“At Childnet our mission is to make the Internet a great and safe place for children. We are really pleased to have been able to work with Internet Matters to bring our original storybook, ‘Digiducks Big Decision’ to life in a new interactive app. The message of the book remains exactly the same, and we hope that providing it as an interactive app will help enable even more parents and young children to have fun finding out about being a good friend online.”

Carolyn Bunting, General Manager of Internet Matters said: “It is fantastic to see generations of children grow up knowing how to use technology because it will make them equipped for the modern world when they are older.”

Narrators of the story, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her mum Janet Ellis really bring the story to life and help young children think about how to be a good friend online.

“As a parent and grandparent, we know how important it is to make sure children stay safe online. That’s why we’re thrilled to be supporting Internet Matters and lending our voices to Childnet’s Digiduck’s Big Decision. ” – Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Janet Ellis

The app is available for free and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Internet Matters.org is a new portal signposting parents to the best advice in relation to child safety online. It was set up in June 2014 with support from the 4 big ISPs in the UK.

Digiduck’s Big Decision was first published in 2012. It is available to download as a PDF, to read online or to purchase through our online shop.
